STORE CATTLE – A reduction in numbers forward at this weeks Store cattle sale saw plenty buyers in attendance and an increase on trade especially middle-smaller end of cattle. More numbers and quality will be forward at next weeks June Special . Top overall on the day were two steers at £1820, a British Blue cross sold by Messrs Bunting, Mid Town Farm, Dumfries and a Montbelairde for Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna. Limousin crosses from Messrs Byers, Woodslee, Canonbie sold to £1810 and Simmentals to £1730 twice from Messrs Potter, Cardews House, Carlisle. Aberdeen Angus to £1670 from Messrs Palmer, Longrigg Thorn, Carlisle. Holsteins to £1480 from Messrs Moffat, Kirtlebank, Gretna and to £1440 from Messrs Watson, Howrigg, Wigton.
Heifers sold to £1700 on two occasions firstly by Messrs Metcalfe, Littlewater, Penrith for a Limousin cross and secondly for an Aberdeen Angus cross from Messrs Cairns, Windy Nook, Carlisle. Messrs Halliday, Broathill, Lockerbie sold British Blues to £1560 and finally Simmental crosses to £1360 from Messrs Coulthard, Brisco Hall, Carlisle.
