Prime Sheep: On Monday 17th June 2024 Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of prime and cast sheep. Numbers were greatly reduced on the week with the anticipation of a smaller demand due to the Eid festival. This served customers extremely well with all classes being keenly bid for. Top price of the day came from the cast section which saw ewes top at £320 for a fantastic pure texel from Messrs Harrison, Armshaugh, Alston. Lambs averaged 408p with meat and weight in high demand. Topping at £225 for Suffolks from Messrs Austin, Woodcroft, Dumfries and to 525p from Texels from Messrs Bird, Ghyll House, Wreay. The trade of the day was 3 pens of 45kg Suffolk mules full of meat from Messrs Foley, Mirlaw House, Hexham leveling at £198 per head.
