Borderway Beef Breeding

On Wednesday 26^th June, Harrison and Hetherington held their monthly Beef Breeding sale at Borderway Mart. A great entry of 168 cows and heifers with calves at foot, 10 breeding bulls and 27 bulling heifers. A great ringside of buyers from all parts of the UK which ensured a flyer of a trade.

Messrs Renton, Highlaws, Morpeth run of 10 Limousin and Aberdeen Angus cross cows and heifers with Limousin calves at foot sold to average £3245 and topped at £5200 for a Limousin cross cow and heifer calf. £4500 was achieved for a British Blue cross cow and heifer calf. Messrs Dempster, Castlehill run of 10 Charolais stock cows and calves averaged £2910 and topped at £1750 for a Charolais cross cow and bull calf. Messrs Hamilton, Derrie Farm run of 9 Limousin cross heifers and calves averaged £3172 and topped at £4200 for a British Blue cross heifer and calf.

Bulling heifers topped at £1750 for a Simmental from Messrs Carter, Gerrard House. Messrs Morton, Church Farm sold a Simmental cross heifer for £1720 and £1700.

Mr John Watson, Dorryfield sold the top priced Limousin bull for £2400 twice.
