The annual early spring sale of Beef Shorthorn cattle at Carlisle on Friday saw a smaller entry than normal but nevertheless a top price of 4000gns achieved.
This was for a heifer from local vendors Nord Vue Farms Ltd. The February 2019 born heifer, Lowther Special K V1, was sired by the homebred bull Lowther Konan and out of Lowther Special K 524. She sold scanned in calf to Lowther Madoc and is due in May. The successful purchaser of this impressive heifer was Messrs Morton from Denny, Stirlingshire.
The only other heifer forward sold for 1800gns to Messrs Young from Tranent, East Lothian. Also consigned by Nord View Farms Ltd, Lowther Robin V3, was sired by Chapelton Kipling 2 and out of Robin 454. She sold scanned in calf to Glenisla Lochan.
