STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 3rd July 2024 Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly store cattle sale which saw a pleasing entry of 404 forward for sale. A ray of sunshine in the deadweight price saw confidence ringside among purchasers concluding in a trade that simply skyrocketed on the week, the lead price this week was £1940 paid for Angus bullocks from Peter and Mick Lawson, New House Farm, Penton , with natives very much to the fore this week, Thomas Moscrop, Ryeclose followed with Hereford Bullocks to £1840 with this home also selling a pen of Flekviehs to £1720, continentals sold to £1790 for Limousin from Mick Slack, Newby. A beautiful heifer from M/s Lockhart , Fauldingcleugh led this section at £1740. Away from the headlines and the undoubted trade of the day if not the year was a pen of 15 Holstein bullocks from M/s Graham, The Wreay, Wigton selling at £1200 per head.
