Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 17th July 2024 Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of 451 store cattle.  Numbers continue to be strong in Borderway with prices in this centre certainly attracting stock and stock attracting buyers. All classes a flyer today with bullocks averaging £1504.17 and heifers £1372.19 to level at £1460 overall.

54 cattle realised over £1700 today, these topped at £2080 for Charolais x bullocks from Messrs Moir, Home Farm, Caithness who sold others to £2000 and £1900.  Limousin bullocks sold to £1950 from Messrs Beattie, Ratlinggate who sold others to £1940 (x2) and £1900 (x2) and sold 7 to average £1872.86.  British Blue bullocks sold to £1900 from Messrs Charlton, Crown Point who topped the dairy bullocks with Fleckviehs to £1870 selling 4 to average £1842.50.  Natives sold to £1840 for Beef Shorthorns from Messrs Coulthard, Brisco, Carlisle.  Heifers sold to £2000 for a great Limousin x from Messrs Grice, Newtown, Carlisle who sold 4 to average £1840 closely followed at £1980 for a cracking Limousin from Messrs Studholme, Whitrigglees, Wigton who sold 3 to averaged £1890.  Next up was a great Simmental  x from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown, Longtown selling at £1900 with this run of 28 averaging £1651.07.
