Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE – On Wednesday 24th July 2024 Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle.  Yet another great entry of 445 Store cattle forward for end of July.  Quality overall would be a lot less on the week but certainly no easing on the trade as the Borderway train keeps breaking new barriers week on week.  Top overall was a triplet born Limousin steer from Terry and Patricia Johnstone, Westray Farm, Cockermouth achieving £2080 while his full sisters sold straight after to £1600 each seeing the family equate to a massive £5280!.  Next best at £1980 was another Limousin cross consigned by Messrs Charlton, Crown Point, Penrith and Messrs Beattie, Rattlingate, Carlisle to £1970 for another.  Messrs Coulthard, Brisco Hall, Carlisle sold best Aberdeen Angus cross to £1960.  Herefords to £1800 from Messrs Barrow, Pow Head, Wigton and British Blues crosses to £1780 from Messrs Richardson, Heggle Lane, Wigton.

Heifers sold twice over at £1900 from Messrs Charlton, Crown Point, Penrith selling on two different occasions Limousin crosses both over 30 months.  British Blue crosses to £1760 from Messrs Roberts, Town Head, Cockermouth and two Charolais crosses achieved the same price from Messrs Dalgleish, Bulls Head, Penrith.  Aberdeen Angus to £1740 from Messrs Henderson, Quarry Park, Lockerbie.  Herefords to £1670 from Messrs Barrow, Pow Heads, Wigton.  Bazadaise sold to £1630 from Sheddock Farm,  Whithorn, Newton Stewart.

A highlight of the day came from Messrs Moscrop, Ryeclose, Carlisle who sold 16 Friesian bullocks at one time to £1450.  Many more could have been sold with yet again a bursting ringside of buyers here at Borderway,  please do not hesitate to give us a go.
