Borderway Calf Sale

Harrison & Hetherington sold 286 calves at their weekly sale and saw a blistering trade from start to finish with a packed ringside of buyers.

Topping the sale at £670 was a strong British Blue from MJL Simpson & Son, Waingate Head.  TJ Hall & Son, Horsleyhill Farm, Hawick sold an outstanding shapely Limousin Bull calf only 1 month old for £640.  T W Martin, Tempest Tower sold Blue bulls to £635. G & E Fox, Windy Hill sold Limousin bull calves to £605, averaging £556 for 8 Limousin calves.  Angus bulls topped at £580 from R J Raven Ltd, Crookdake Hall.  2 month Simmental bulls sold to £490 from J Forest & Son, Meinfoot.  2 month old Blue bulls sold to £530 from East Scales Ltd. Gretna.  Aberdeen Angus bulls  at 2 months of age sold to £500 from Messrs Fisher, The Close, Silloth.  Young calves were well short of buyers requirements seeing 1 month Blue bulls selling to £380 from J G Gardhouse Ltd, Nook House.

Heifers topped at £570 for a 3 month British Blue from Messrs Reed, Moss Side House.  Limousin heifers topped at £530 for a 3 month from G & SE Fox, Windy Hill.  Angus heifers topped at £445 from D & M Irving, Brunt Hill.  2 month old Simmental Heifers sold to £420 from Meinfoot, Ecclefechan
