Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their Annual Kirkby Classic Prize Show and Sale of store and potential show cattle when 609 cattle were on offer.
Topping the sale at £6000 was the Overall Champion beast which was a nine month old British Blue heifer which was sired by Tweedale Guinness and was shown by Messrs Smith-Jackson, Hightown, Haltwhistle and was successfully purchased by Messrs Dickinson, Ashbourne.

Next selling for £4500 was a eleven month old Limousin cross heifer sired by Mereside Lorezo and consigned by the Marston Family, Easegill Head, Kirkby Stephen which went on to sell to Messrs Jarman, Branthwaite.
Our judges for the day were Daughter and Father team Ellie and Michael Wynne, Snitterton, Derbyshire who had an outstanding show of cattle put in front of them, probably one of the best seen here at Kirkby Stephen, and carried out the judging in a professional and proficient manner.
Awarded Reserve Overall was a ten month old Limousin cross heifer sired by Hightown Jako and selling for £2200. This heifer was also shown by Messrs Smith-Jackson, with Ellie & Michael Wynne being the successful purchases.

Trade for all types of cattle from show calves to commercial store cattle was flying 6 cattle sold between £2000-£6000 with 22 cattle selling between £1500-£6000
The whole sale of heifers averaged £1155.10 (up £66.38 on the year) with steers averaging £1107.10 (up £117.97) this was for 103 more cattle sold on the year.
30 prize winning show cattle sold to average a fantastic £1651.66.
Limousin cross steers topped at £1545 from Messrs Dixon, Peacock Hill, Sedbergh which was bought by D Barker.
British Blue cross steers topped at £1,500 for a ten month old from Messrs Huck, Sowerthwaite Farm, Austwick which was bought by Messrs Parkin, Goole.
Smart young cattle were a flying trade with a six month old Limousin cross heifer selling for £1720 from Caroline & Rachel Brown, Accraplatts Farm, Skipton.
