On Monday 8th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep.
BREEDING SHEEP: Borderway’s ewes and lambs were off the clock with a much larger show on offer. This included the first consignment from Messrs Jenkinson, Clifton Moor, Penrith who topped the sale at £119 a head for a pen of 10 singles with following pens selling for £115, £114 and £110 for singles and £99, £98 and £96 for twins. The full consignment averaged £103.86 which is a staggering £20 per head up on the year. Quality supporters Messrs Brough, Clappers Farm, Wigton had a tremendous consignment of Suffolk x ewes with continental lambs at foot selling to a very respectable £112 per head for twins with another pen selling to £106 a head. This consignment averaged £103.20. Many more ewes and lambs could be sold to vendor’s advantage.
