Lazonby Opening Store Lamb Sale

On Thursday 25^th July Harrison & Hetherington held its opening sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market.

A total of 1343 lambs were forward that saw a sale average of £100.58 being achieved. Topping the sale was a pen of Texel lambs from Willy Lee, Lintley, who sold to £136 and whose run of 39 averaged £130.15. Mules met a great trade with a total breed average of £95.32 being achieved topping at £105 for a pen of 25 from Phillip Dawson, The Lodge. Beltex lambs topped at £120 from Messer Hoodless, Highfield. Suffolk lambs topped at £128 from Robert Pickthall, The Mains, whose run of 55 average £119.35. A very youthful presence was felt as the next generation were present which will secure the marts future. A special mention goes to the Watt family, Field Garth who sold 125 lambs on behalf of market supporter Malcolm Watt. This run went to average £102.54.
