The Annual Spring sale of Galloway cattle was held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday.
Topping the sale at 4300gns was the bull Ace of Whitehill from WJ Henderson’s Lockerbie based herd. Ace was sired by Everest of Gall-Way and out of Lady Nancy 503 of Whitehill. He was purchased by Messrs Ireland from Holmrook, Carlisle.

Heifers sold to a top of 2900gns for a bulling heifer from Robert McTurk’s Barlaes herd. This was Brownie 252nd sired by Jake of Nether Rusko and out of the Barlaes Colossus daughter Brownie 188th. She was purchased by Messrs Nixon & MacPherson from Dumfries.
The same purchaser bought two more bulling heifers at £2500. These two, Emblehope Freda and Fearless, were sold as a pair consigned by Emblehope & Burngrange Estate. Both were sired by Barlaes Pioneer.
Emblehope and Burngrange Estate also sold another Pioneer daughter at 2400gns. This was Emblehope Fiona who was purchased by Messrs Wallace from Ninebanks, Hexham.
The best of the in-calf heifers was Messrs Henderson’s Lizzie 784 of Whitehill who sold for 2300gns to Messrs Neve & Son from Brampton. Lizzie was sired by Titan of Whitehill and sold scanned in calf to Trojan of Whitehill.
Non-pedigrees topped at £1400 for two bulling heifers from Messrs Todd, Otterburn which were purchased by Messrs Wallace, Ninebanks, Hexham.
