Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE:   A great entry of 543 Store cattle forward at Borderways weekly sale to average £1407.53, seeing the Company sell a whopping 1271  head of cattle sold through the auction for the first week in August.  Trade overall today was absolutely flying throughout although more plain cattle were on offer on the whole.  Topping the sale overall at £2040 was witnessed twice.  Firstly for a Limousin cross from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna and secondly by Messrs Story, Blackrigg, Longtown selling an Aberdeen Angus cross.  Selling British Blue crosses to £1830 was Messrs Noble, Killiecrankie, Carlisle.  Charolais to £1760 from Messrs Routledge, Old Silloth, Wigton and Herefords to £1750 from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close, Carlisle.

Dairy bullocks sold to £1560 for Fleckviehs from Messrs Holliday, Town Foot, Penrith.  Friesians to £1480 from the same home and £1460 for others from Messrs Robinson, Gelt Hall, Brampton.  Holstein Friesians to £1315 for a pen of five from Messrs Robinson, Woodhall, Cockermouth.

Heifers peaked at £1750 for British Blue crosses from Messrs Noble, Killiecrankie and to £1740 for Limousins from the same home.  Charolais to £1700 for a pair from Messrs Holliday, Newbampton, Wigton and to £1690 for Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Routledge, Brackenhill Rigg, Carlisle.  Herefords to £1550 from Messrs Robley, Demense, Brampton and finally Blonde crosses to £1460 for a pen from Messrs Mitchell, Grassknop, Penrith.
