Deerslet Holstein Dispersal Sale

VIOLA TOPS IN THE DEERSLET DISPERSAL

The well known Deerslet Pedigree Holstein herd owned by the Lawson family who farm near Carnforth in Lancashire was dispersed at the Borderway Sale Centre on Wednesday 28th August in front of a huge crowd of buyers from across the UK.  Trade topped at 4,300gns to average £2359 for the milking herd; heifer calves following their dams topped at 2,200gns to average £930.

Deerslet Altatop Viola Red topped the sale at 4,300gns and was bought by the Brown family from Halfway House near Carnforth.  This super stylish Red & White two year old was classified Very Good 87 and was due with her second in February to Ryder Red sexed.  She completed five generations of Excellent or Very Good cows tracing back to an Excellent 95 Toystory cow that produced over 80 ton lifetime. 


Deerslet Altatop Viola Red VG87 - sold for 4300gns

The Voila cow family attracted brisk bidding throughout the sale with Deerslet Explosion Viola selling for 4,200gns to Shaun Rennie from Brocklehill Farm in Ayrshire.  This super balanced young cow had recently been classified Very Good 88 just one point from a maximum score with her third dam being the famous Excellent 95 Toystory Viola.  Her two month old daughter sired by Chase sold for 1000gns to Mr Mawhinney from N. Ireland.

A direct daughter of the awesome Deerslet Toystroy Viola EX95 sold for 3,000gns to the Cairnpat Holstein herd in Stranraer.  Deerslet Hotline Viola was classified Excellent 92 in her third lactation and is due with her fourth calf in March carrying a Mystique Animation female pregnancy.  She displayed enormous potential and could be an interesting prospect for the Royal Highland Show next year.  Her heifer calf sired by Hampshire sold for 2,000gns to the Halhead family from Norbreck Farm near Cockerham.  

Strong cow families that consistently transmitted high production, impressive classifications and longevity were the backbone to the Deerslet herd.  Selling for 3,000gns was Deerslet Applicable Binky, she was close to true type model and was awarded maximum points by the classifier earlier this year.  This awesome young cow was bought by the Lawrence family from Holme Farm near Grange-Over-Sands.   Her AtlaExemplary heifer calf sold for 1000gns to Mr Mawhinney from N. Ireland.  Another daughter sired by AltaMorris sold for 2,300gns to Mark Crother from Annan.  She was due to Delta Everton sexed.


Deerslet Applicable Binky EX93 sold for 3000gns

In calf heifers topped at 2,600gns for Deerslet Top Barb Red who was bought by Cote Farm Partnership near Carnforth.  Her first two dams were classified Excellent 92 and she was due to AltaKamara sexed for December.  This powerful group of in calf heifers averaged almost £1900. 

50 heifer calves averaged £930 and topped at 2,200gns for Deerslet Aladdin Lucky Red who was bought by the Halhead family from Norbreck Farm near Cockerham.  She was an ultra stylish Red & White heifer bred from an Excellent 92 dam sired by Bryant who produced over 60 ton lifetime.  Her next two dams were also Excellent with impressive lifetime production.
