Borderway Store Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 4^th September 2024 Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of  Store cattle.  Another great entry of 700 strong store cattle adding to the days entry of 1815 head of cattle.  Quality overall would be less as the weather appears to be taking it toll on cattle condition.  Despite this there were certainly no easing on trade even for the worst affected weathered cattle, prices continue to rise.  Topping the sale overall was a British Blue Steer from Messrs Johnstone, Westray , Cockermouth achieving £1930, others to £1870 from Messrs Dayson, Yew Tree, Carlisle.  Limousins to £1890 from Messrs Moscrop, Rye Close, Carlisle.  Aberdeen Angus to £1880 from Westray Farm, Cockermouth, Charolais to £1860 from Messrs Holiday Newbampton, Wigton and Herefords to £1810 from Messrs Hewson, Jerriestown, Carlisle.

Heifers sold to £1890 for an Aberdeen Angus from Jerriestown Farm, and to £1880 for Limousins from Messrs Slack, Newby, Carlisle.  Messrs Mounsey, Wardhall Guards, Wigton to £1730 for British Blues crosses and Charolais to £1680 from Messrs Udale, Sideway Bank, Penrith

Dairy bred cattle peaked at £1670 for a Fleckvieh from Messrs Mason, Bank Farm, Penrith and Friesians to £1570 for a pen from Messrs Moscrop, Ryeclose and £1560 from Messrs Routledge, Brackenhill Rigg.
