Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday, 4^th September Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of weaned cattle.  A total of 267 were forward once again with trade similar on the week, however bulls proved harder to place with a few customers away taking advantage of the weather.  Bulls topped at £1600 for a Limousin from I & CL Richardson, Greenlands and his five went on to average £1500.  Aberdeen Angus bulls topped at £1590 from A J Ewing, Dumbretton and also sold Belted Galloways to £1300.  A great show of stirks were forward and met a similar trade to previous weeks.  Topping  the steers section went to a Charolais steer from EMD Fletcher, Lockerbie selling for £1480.  Limousin steers topped at £1330 from George Rushton, Nirvana.  Heifers were forward in great numbers with  top price going to Messrs Fletcher, Lockerbie selling to £1470.  British Blue heifers topped at £1200 from Mark Crowther, Spittalriddinghill.  Blondes topped at £1260 for a heifer from John Fell, Stranger Hill.  Limousin heifers topped at £1260 from RJ & DT Harding, Brampton.
