STORE CATTLE:  A good entry of 702 store cattle and suckled calves were forward at Borderway’s September Sale, whereby the pre-show judge Mr Michael Kirby awarded Champion to the 1^st prize Limousin heifer from Messrs Robertson, Newton of Logierait, Pitlochry, she later sold for £2600 to Messrs McKinnel, Garrarie Farm, Newton Stewart.

The  second prize Limousin went on to take reserve overall champion and sold for £2800, this heifer was bred and sold by Messrs Atkinson, Demense, Whitehaven and purchased by Messrs Priestley, Cracrop Frm, Brampton.

Brian Harper, Greenwells, Falkirk, sold a young Limousin cross steer to £2400. Outwith the show a top of £2000 went to a Limousin steer from Messrs Robertson, Newton of Logierait at only 13 months old. Simmental cross steers to £1940 of Messrs Faulder, Townhead, Penrith and the same home selling to £1880 for Limousin, Aberdeen Angus to £1860 for Messrs Richardson, Heggle Lane, Wigton, Simmental £1820 for Messrs Nicholson, Carse Main, Dumfries who sold a run of 45 averaged a healthy £1684.44. Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth, sold Britihs Blues to £1810 and Charolais to £1770 for Messrs Udale, Sideway Bank, Penrith.
Heifers also sold to £2000 for Messrs Cornthwaite, Lockerbie, this was a 17 month old Limousin. Messrs Wigham, Hargill House, Haltwhistle, sold a 13 month old Limousin to £1920, Messrs Mounsey, Wordhall Guards, Wigton, sold a British Blue cross to £1780, making the same money was an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Forrester, Down by Rigg, Carlisle. Charolais crosses to £1630 for Messrs Thompson, High Hall, Wigton, for 17 month old.

Dairy bred cattle sold to £1610 for Messrs Graham, Stubbyknowe, Gretna, selling Holstein Friesians.
