Borderway Sale of Store & Weanling Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington had an excellent entry of cattle at their weekly sale comprising of a catalogued entry of 1000 Store Cattle, including the March Continental Cross Steer and heifer show and sale, 130 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings and 387 Calves.

STORE CATTLE – A small show of store cattle was on offer to a very keen ring side of buyers which ensured one of the dearest trades to date.   Bullocks averaged £1205 and £1141 for heifers with an overall average of £1169.    Messrs Stamper & Son, Rose Farm run of cattle topped at £1470 and £1420 for Angus bullocks, £1450 for a British Blue cross bullock and a British Blue x heifer for £1470.  Messrs Nixon, Ribton House run of cattle topped at £1440 for a pen of four Angus bullocks.  Messrs Tinning, Springfield run of cattle topped at £1380 for a Charolais x heifer.  Messrs Miller, Tarn House sold Limousin x heifers for £1360 and £1340 x 2. Fleckvieh cross bullocks from Messrs Addison, Greystone House sold for £1300.

WEANED CATTLE:

March madness continues with weanling cattle and bulls up on the week and met with powerful buying force. Bulls topped at £1130 for a smashing pair of Limousins from Messrs Fowlie. Messrs Wood, Well Head also had Limousin bulls up to £1120. Aberdeen Angus bulls topped at £855 from Messrs Thompson, Sanson Seal Farm and Galloways sold to £810 from Messrs Edmondson, Walloway.

Heifers sold to £1075 for a Limousin from Messrs Sherwen, Tarn How who had another at £1025. Beef Shorthorn heifers sold to £1020 from Messrs Brass, Espland with Aberdeen Angus heifers up to £1000 from the same home. Bullocks sold up to £890 for very young cattle from Messrs Bell, Changue Farm and Limousins to £850 from Dodd’s of Keepershields while Holsteins and Norwegian Reds were up to £840 from Messrs McNabney of Barsalloch Farm. Take advantage of the strong trade and fetch cattle along in a week’s time on Wednesday 17th March.
