Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE:   Once again Borderway bring the numbers and the trade with over 700 store cattle forward, some smaller weathered cattle would be slightly easier on the week but everything else a flying trade throughout.  Topping the days trading at £1980 was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith and Messrs Thompson, Wood Head, Carlisle sold another to £1950 also selling to £1950 was a Beef Shorthorn cross from Messrs Dobson, West End, Maryport,  a Simmental from Messrs Potts, Chapel House, Brampton and a Charolais cross from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas.  British Blue to £1880 from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth and Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1780 on two occasions, firstly by Messrs Edgar, Whitecroft Mains, Dumfries and secondly by Messrs Lawson, New House Farm, Carlisle.

Heifers were also topped by Dennis Bowman, Croft House, Penrith, this time selling a Limousin cross to £1900 and another to £1840 from the same home.  Messrs Lawson, New House sold Charolais to £1840.  Messrs McKie, Lawrence Holme, Wigton sold Aberdeen Angus to £1690 and £1670 as well as top British Blue crosses to £1660.

Dairy bred steers sold to £1420 for Fleckviehs from Messrs Crichton, Limekilns, Annan and £1310 for Friesians from Messrs Crowther, Spittalriddinghill, Annan and to £1300 for a pen of four from Messrs Moscrop, Ryeclose, Carlisle
