BREEDING SHEEP AND STORE SHEEP

On Monday 30^th September Harrison & Hetherington held their sale of Breeding Sheep and store lambs. A small offering of 150 Breeding sheep sold to £285 twice, firstly for a tremendous 2 shear Texel from Messrs Ross, Whitelaird and then again for a smart Texel gimmer from R & E Norman & Sons, The Bow.  Beltex x 4 shears sold to £190 again from R & E Norman.  Ewe lambs sold to £185 for a pen of 3 Suffolk /Half Breds from Mrs Dean, Talkin Head.

Store lambs numbers were just shy of 900 averaged £91 (+£6/head on the week).  Topping the sale at £128 was a pen of Texel crosses from J G Johnson, East Foreshields.  Beltex crosses sold to £121 from Brian Bowe, Midtown.  D & S Robinson, Hawksteel sold a pen of 21 Texel crosses to £118, while Stuart Whitfield, Bateyshield sold a pen of 20 Suffolk x to £114.  Mules sold to £104 for a great pen from Messrs Walton, Penpeugh.  Plenty of buyers present for large, short keep lambs today with this type regularly cashing at £105-£120.  Long keep lambs short of buyer requirements today saw them regularly cash between £70-£90 depending on breed and quality.
