SHOW AND SALE OF STORE LAMBS

On Thursday, 3rd October Harrison & Hetherington held its October show and sale of store lambs in Lazonby Market. A total of 2243 lambs continued to come forward as a sale average of £84.83 was seen which included 1300 mule & swaledale lambs. A few new faces were seen around the ring with buyers for all classes available. Before the sale the pre sale show took place with judge Mr Mark Wills undertaking the job. After looking over the pens the Richard Hodgson Trophy was awarded to 10 continental lambs from Millie and Marle Faulder, Ewan Close which later went to sell for £152 and top price of the day. The reserve champion pen went to the same home and made £146. The first prize pen from TE Clarke, Howgill topped the section at £102 & second prize from CR & MJ Birbeck, High Stennerskeyh made £98. Suffolks topped at £116 from Josh Wade, Ewan Close while the first prize and second went to £105 & £104 from Messrs Pickthall, The Mains. Respectively Swaledale lambs topped at £74 for the first prize lambs from JJ Hope, Branthwaite while a total breed average of £56.95 were mules still this late in the season averaged £84.92.

Our next sale is the second sale of Mule gimmer lambs for NEMSA Members on Wednesday 9th October.
