Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen held their annual crossing Bluefaced Leicester Show and Sale.
Topping the sale at £4,000 was a ram lamb from Messrs Archer, Low Carry House, Hexham which was bought by Messrs Clarke, Howgill Castle, Penrith.
Three ram lambs sold to reach £3500 firstly from Messrs Hayton, Asby Grange, Great Asby selling to Messrs Ivinson & Sons, Hole House, Ousby; then from Messrs Ridley, Wood Hall, Hesket New Market selling to Messrs Tatbutt, Winter Hill Farm, Darwen and thirdly from Messrs Dawson, The Lodge, Kendal selling to be shared between Messrs Lee, Harwood Shields, Hexham and Messrs Smith-Jackson, Lipwood, Haydon Bridge.
A further three ram lambs sold to reach £3200 firstly from Messrs Huner, The Steel Farm, Hexham selling to Messrs Martin, Hesleywell, Hexham; with Messrs Archer & Son, LKow Carry House, Wark selling two ram lambs at £3200 selling to Messrs Clarke, Howgill Castle, Penrith and to Messrs Luck & Son, Milestone House, Bowes.
Shearling rams topped at £3000 twice, firstly from Messrs Carrick & Son, High Crossgill Farm, Alston selling to Messrs Ousby, Bents Farm, Newbiggin on Lune and secondly from Messrs Wight & Son, Midlock selling to Messrs Ivinson & Sons, Hole House.
The pre sale show which saw some of the best quality that’s been on offer here at Kirkby Stephen, was ably judged by Chris Pye, Dunkenshaw Farm, Abbeystead.
Chris awarded the overall championship to the first placed ram lamb from Messrs Wight & Sons, Midlock Farm, Biggar which made £1800 selling to a share between the just Chris Pye and Messrs Lancaster, Bordley Hall, Skipton.
The reserve overall championship was awarded to the first placed shearling ram from Messrs Walton, West Shotton Farm, Staindrop which sold for £2500 to Messrs Dobson, White Kirkley Farm, Bishop Auckland.
A packed ringside of potential buyers from near and far were in attendance and were rewarded with a top quality show of well bred rams on offer, which generated a wonderful atmosphere and buzz in the boom town! Making it one of the best Bluefaced Leicester sales seen here at Kirkby Stephen.
Aged rams sold to average £966.67.
Ram Lambs sold to average £1251.67 up £300.56 on the year.
Shearling Rams sold to average £1286.36 up £155.86 on the year.
An overall sale average of £1253.97 was achieved which was up £252.08 on the year.
