Borderway Store Cattle Sale

STORE CATTLE: A smaller show of 430 Store cattle forward at Borderways weekly sale whereby a very good level trade was achieved for all shapes and sizes.  More smaller and poorer quality cattle were on offer on the whole.  Leading the way at £2060 in the steers was a Limousin cross from Messrs Charlton, Crown Point, Penrith and Messrs Moffat, Stonehouse, Gretna sold another to £2020.  Charolais from Crown Point sold to £1900 and British Blue crosses from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth sold to £1840 and £1760.  Aberdeen Angus topped at £1650 from Messrs Black, East Kildarroch, Newton Stewart.

Heifers also matched the days joint top overall at £2060 selling this over thirty month Limousin cross heifer was Messrs Radley, Loaningfoot, Dumfries.  Messrs Dickinson, Low House, Wigton sold next best at £1850.  Messrs Lawson, New House, Carlisle sold top Charolais to £1660 for a pen of three also Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas sold others to £1640.  Messrs Watson, Millrigg, Wigton sold a Montbelairde heifer to £1580 and Messrs Crichton, Limekilns, Annan sold a Fleckvieh to the same money.
