Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 9th October Harrison and Hetherington sold 282 at their weekly sale which saw a smaller show compared with the previous two weeks but an increased enquiry from buyers saw good bull calves and Black and White calves sharper on the week.

Averages: 

Bulls:                     104 averaged £370

Heifers:                98 averaged £288

Black & Whites: 80 averaged £126

Topping the sale today was an outstanding 4 month Limousin bull from G & SE Fox, Windyhill selling for £630, the same good home topped the heifers section at £520 for a 4 month Limousin x.  British blue bulls topped twice at £600 for a pair from J S Vance & Sons, High Skeog, Whithorn then again for a 4 month Blue bull from A & A E Harrison, Roundhill, Aldoth.  George Ireland, Morley Hill sold a 4 month Charolais bull to £540.  2 month Blue bulls were the trade of the day topping at £540 from East Scale Ltd, Rigg.  Bowe Dairy Farming, Chalk Lodge sold a pen of three 2 month British Blue bulls to £515.  Angus bulls topped at £520 for a 2 month old from Evening Hill Ltd.  2 month old Limousin bulls sold to £500 from IT & EM Carlyle, Bleaberry Rigg.  2 month Simmental bulls calves sold to £405 from D Hyslop, Meinside.  Holstein bulls sold to £260 for a pair from Messrs Wilson, Woodside Ltd, Wreay.  British Blues heifers topped at £510 for a pair from J S Vance & Sons, High Skeog. Angus heifers topped at £460 for a pair of 3 month old from JW Edgar & Co, Whitecroft Mains, Carrutherstown.
