BREEDING SHEEP – SECOND SALE OF MULE GIMMER LAMBS

On Wednesday 9^th October at Lazonby Mart, Harrison & Hetherington held their annual second sale of mule gimmer lambs. A total entry of 5800 went under the hammer to average £116.19 a shortage of tupping lambs were apparent as those who had stronger lambs rewarded with a similar trade to previous sales. Smaller running lambs met resistance however still allowed customers to be content with the days trading. Before the sale the pre show took place with the years judge Mr Joe Kidd, Briggle stepping in to do the honours after looking over all the pens it was decided the Mounsey Kidd Memorial Cup went to RH & EM Lord, The Bog which topped the sale at £220 selling to local mule enthusiast Roger Graves. The second prize lamb went to GR Wharton, Keasley Farn selling to £162 the third prize lambs from Mark and Jack Wills, Fawcett Park selling for £165. The fourth prize from PM & P Smith, Parson Shields sold to the same price for a pen of 10. Smaller lambs proved harder to place however many pens sold between £110 - £120.
