Borderway Store and Breeding Sheep Sale

On Monday 15^th March Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store and breeding sheep.

BREEDING SHEEP: Breeding sheep at Borderway saw a great quality consignment of Texel X and Mule in-lamb ewes from Messrs JL McMillan, Carse of Clary, Newton Stewart.  Their run of in-lamb sheep topped at £230 for a pen of Texel cross shearlings selling to Geoff Bowe, Bothel Parks, Wigton.  The trade of the day was for the pens of Mules with gimmers selling for £200, £195 and £170 for 2 & 3 crop ewes, with the full run of 160 Texel X, Suffolk X and Mules averaging up at a very respectable £187.96.

Following was the ewes and lambs with the previous weeks weather reducing the ringside of buyers, nevertheless quality and strength were well bid for with another quality consignment from Messrs Jenkinson, Clifton Moor, Penrith topping at £112, £109 & £106.  The message of the day showed that lambs want plenty of age on their side to ensure the maximum price is realised.
