Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their fortnightly Sale of cast and OTM cattle.

Topping the sale at £2,169.16 for a beef short horn cast bull 1016kg (213.5p/kg) from Messrs Owen, Sandwath, Kirkby Stephen purchased by Messrs Fell, Settle.

Cast cows topped at £2097.11 and 278.5p/kg for 753kg Limousin cross cow from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside which was purchased by Owain Llyr, Ruthin.

This home also sold 696kg British Blue cross cow to make 273.5p £1903.56 which was also purchased by Owain, Llyr with this home also going on to sell British blue cows at 696kg to make 264.5p (£1840.92) with a 763kg Limousin cross cow from this home making 232.5p totalling £1705.31 (223.5p/kg) selling to D Barker, Scarbrough.

The consignment of British Blue & Limousin cows from this home sold to average 721kg £1676.14 (232.2p/kg)

Messrs Paul, Sawbridge Hall, Bleatarn sold a 666kg Limousin cross cow to 264.5p/kg totalling £1694.97 selling to Owain Llyr.

Dairy cows topped at £1362.75 and 172.5p/kg for a Holstein Friesian from Messrs Beck, Town foot, Longdale.

All classes of cast cows and OTM were a flying trade once again with an overall sale average 190.4pk/kg and £1315.87.
