Kirkby Stephen Annual Luke Fair Sale of Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their annual ‘Luke Fair’ sale of store cattle on Monday.

Topping the sale at £2075 was a Limousin cross steers from Messrs Smithson, Bloan Farm, Brough Sowerby, with this home also selling Limousin steers to £2015 and topping the Aberdeen Angus steers at £2000.

Messrs Maughan, Ash Garth, Great Asby sold his annual consignment to top at £2035 for a British Blue steer with others from this home selling to £1985 twice and £1945. Limousin steers selling to £1965, £1915, £1905 and Limousin heifers to £1935. The consignment of 40 15 to 17 month old steers and heifers selling to average £1707.63

Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside sold Limousin steers to £2015 and £2000. British Blue steers from this home sold to £1976.

Messrs Paul, Sawbridge Hall, Bleatarn sold Limousin steers to £1945.

Messrs Pickles, Far Gearstones, Chaple le Dale sold Limousin heifers to £1935 with other Limousin heifers from this home selling to £1905 and £1900. The consignment of five Limousin heifers form this home selling to average £1870.

Messrs Anderston, The Springs, Leyburn sold 15 month old Limousin steers to £1915.

Messrs Taylor, Watershouses, Asby sold Limousin heifers to £1925 with Limousin steers from this home selling to £1900.

A good quality show of shape and meat were on offer with these been very good to sell and an overall steer average of £1621.71 which is up £112.95 on the year and heifer average of £1460.37 up £88.46 on the year.
