SPRINGSTEEN HITS THE HIGH NOTES AT BORDERWAY

The Carldanton Holstein herd based in Bolton, Lancashire owned by Anthony Grimshaw sold an incredible group of young milking cows and heifers, short bred heifers and yearling heifers in their special Carldanton Autumn Opportunity Sale.  Trade topped at 3,300gns with the milking cattle averaging £2605. 

Cow families play a vital role in the development of the Carldanton herd with the Springsteen family at the heart of recent successes.  The Springsteen family won the Family Group at this year’s Summer Herd Competition and it was a very special heifer from this family that topped the sale at 3,300gns. Carldanton Boraz Springsteen was sired by DG Boraz, her third dam is Carldanton Chief Springsteen EX94 who placed 2^nd Production Cow at this year’s UK Dairy Expo, her next dam is an EX94 Explode.  She was purchased by the Stardale herd in Lancashire.

A tremendous group of milking cows and heifers topped at 2,800gns for Carldanton Lambda Sharon who was purchased by Mr McKinley from Stranraer.  She was fresh in her second lactation and was giving 60kgs.
