On Wednesday 23th October Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves. 394 forward and saw a packed ringside of buyers keen to stock up making calves the hottest trade for some time with a shortage of young milk calves on offer.

Topping the sale at £680 was a British Blue bull from M & JA Johnston, Petteril Side, Southwaite. Messrs Walton, Dunns Houses sold a 2 month Limousin bull calf to £650. A & AE Harrison, Roung Hill, Wigton sold a 3 month British Blue Bull to £645 and 3month Simmental Bulls to £570. JB Sloan, Panlands, Johnstonebrige sold a pair of Montbeliarde bulls to £640. JH Errington, Lowthe Low Moor sold a 3 month British Blue Bull to £580. 2 month Aberdeen Angus heifers sold to £415 for a pair from J & D Martin, Boggle Hall. 2 month British Blue Heifers sold to £435 from Gaitsgill Hall.
