BREEDING SHEEP

On Wednesday 23rd October at Lazonby Mart, Harrison & Hetherington held their final breeding sheep sale of the season as 750 mule gimmers, swaledale draft & rams went under the hammer. An overall average of £93.87 was achieved with the top price going to a pen of 17 from T & AT Bowman, Brampton Fell selling to £120 TE Clarke, Howgill sold a pen of 12 to £118. Tupping lambs sold to £110.20 regularly while runners were often £80 - £100.
Swaledale ewes were keenly sought after topping the ewes went to a pen of 16 full vaccinated 5 crop ewes from M & T F Graham, West Foreshields selling for £90. Shearling ewes topped at £142 for a pen of 11 from Reid Partners, Dyke Nook. Swaledale ewe lambs topped at £85 from Messrs Cogan, Penrith. Rams topped at £180 for an aged texel ram from Messrs Dent, Ashfield.
