Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 17^th March Harrison & Hetherington held its weekly sale of calves with another blistering calf sale with 330 calves on offer. Yet again another strong ringside of 48 active buyers.  A total of 35 calves sold in excess of £500 topping todays sale at £615 was a Limousin bull calf consigned by Messrs McGregor, Longrigg.  Aberdeen Angus calves sold to a top of £575 from regular consignor Ling Dairies, Southwaite.   British Blue calves sold to a top of £560 twice for 2 from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown.  This fantastic consignment of 19 British Blue and Aberdeen Angus calves sold to average £532.  Dairy bred calves continue to fly with Montbelairde calves selling to £480 from Messrs Graham, Hillhead.  Taking the biggest lift of the week were the smaller continental calves easily achieving £300+ for 2 week old calves.  Messrs Balmer, Forest Farm sold five, one month old Charolais calves to average £448.  Many more calves can be sold to vendor’s advantage.
The next sale of young calves will take place on Wednesday 24th March.
