Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 30th October Harrison and Hetherington sold 341 calves at their weekly sale which saw good well bred young calves a very strong trade with everything else slightly easier on the week.  Sale averages were reflective on a lot more of the calves being young milk calves and were as follows:

 Topping the sale at £650 was an outstanding 3 month old British Blue bull from Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig, Newton Stewart.  A V Elwen, Netherfield sold a pen of three, 3 months British Blue bulls to £525.  Limousin bulls topped at £520 twice from G & SE Fox, Windy Hill.  Angus bulls sold to £515 from J B Sloan, Panlands, Johnstonebridge.  T W Martin Tempest Tower sold a pair of 2 month British Blue bulls to £495.  1 month old Charolais  bulls sold to £480 from K J & M Sharp, Wolsty Hall, Silloth.  1 month Blue bulls sold to £435 from Big Balcraig.  Fleckvieh bulls sold to £420 for a 2 month old from J H Errington, Lowther Low Moor.  Montbelairde bulls sold to £410 from Panlands, Johnstonebridge.

Heifers sold to £510 twice for Blue and Limousin heifers from G & SE Fox, Windyhill.  AJ & JA Mckie, Wedholme Hill, Wigton sold a 3 month Blue heifer to £500.  A V Elwen, Netherfield 2 month old Blue heifers sold to £425 from SJ & JE Ogden, Pears Ghyll.  1 month old Charolais heifers sold to £370 3 times from Wolsty Hall.  2 month Angus heifers sold to £350 from Wedholme Hill.
