Borderway Store Cattle Sale

Another great show of 458 store cattle were forward, with numbers remaining strong here in Borderway, they were greeted with a packed ringside from the offset ensured all cattle were visibly dearer again on the week, strength at the top end was lacking however each and every beast sailed beyond vendors expectations with the auctioneers job being a breeze this week. Leading the sale this week were British blue cross Friesian heifers consigned by Messrs Blamire, Mid Whinnow selling to £1860 and £1810, bullocks topped at £1780 for a Limousin x bullocks from Messrs Faulder, Thistledown, Carlisle.   Messrs Hewson, Parton, Wigton and Messrs Slack, Newby, Carlisle and also for a pen of 4 British Blue x Holsteins bullocks from Messrs Evans, Halmyre, Castle Douglas.   Native cattle sold to £1750 for an Angus heifer from Messrs Laird, Unity Farm, Carlisle.   An overall sale average of £1358.30 was achieved with bullocks at £1363.09 and heifers at £1351.83.
