Middleton In Teesdale Store Cattle Sale including the Young Farmers Summering Comepetion

Middleton-in-Teesdale, Station Road, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Co Durham, DL12 0PJ

On Tuesday 29th of October Harrison and Hetherington conducted its October show and slae of store cattle at Middleton Mart. Also this day see the inaugural Young Farmers Calf Summering Competition, which sale a catalogued entry for 147 forward and 17 Young Farmer entries to a full ring side of buyers ensuring all cattle were keenly bid for, resulting in cattle being £100-200 more on the year.

The show was ably judged by Mr Andrew Smith, Carnforth who awarded the championship to Seth Pattinson for his first prize haltered steer which later sold to £2000 to the judge. Reserve went to a local man, Mr Harry Askwith for his first prize British Blue heifer which sold for £1580. Lexi Pattinson sold her pedigree Limousin heifer for 1840 to Nicola and Nigel Foster, Birch Bush.

A huge well done must go to all of our young competitors.

Out with the Young Farmers show, the store show was again judged by Mr Andrew Smith, who awarded the Championship to the first prize over 12 month steer which sold for £1720 from JC & J White, Rigg Farm. Reserve Champion went to Messrs White again for the first prize under 12 month steer which sold for £1760. Winning the Lord Barnard trophy were Neville & Alison Bainbridge, Laneside and the Wemmersgill prize went to JC & J White.
