Middleton In Teesdale Suckeld Calf Show & Sale

On Tuesday 5th November 2024, Harrison & Hetherington held their annual sale of suckled calves in Middleton in Teesdale auction market, where an entry of 427 were forward.

The region’s leading suckled calf sale once again reigned supreme with a trade others could only dream about, with an overall average of £1264.17. The bullocks lifted £58 to average £1284.47 and heifers up £100 to average £1236.81.

The presale show was kindly sponsored by Eden Farm Supplies, H & H Lande Estates, H & H Insurance Brokers, David Teward Ltd, Jameson and Agri Source and judged by noted cattleman James Crichton, his Champion was the first prize British Blue heifer from David Mallon Pallet Crag which sold for the days leading price of £6500 to Haig Murray, Gretna for further showing.

David did the double when he claimed the Reserve Champion with another British Blue cross, this time a steer selling at £1900 to the judge.

All cattle sold to a marvellous trade with many cattle over £1500, with 99% of the cattle forward were 6-8m old.
