Borderway Store Cattle Sale

An exact catalogued number forward at todays sale of 462 Store cattle.  Just like last week all vendors enjoyed another rip roaring trade throughout for all shapes and sizes.  A much larger entry of smaller cattle were evident throughout  the day and a large proportion of black and white steers bring the steer average to £1300.10 but the heifers flying ahead with a fantastic average of £1348.45.  Top overall on the day was a superb Limousin cross steer for Messrs Hall, Horsleyhill Farm, Hawick achieving £1960.  Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith sold another to £1900.  Charolais to £1940 for a pair from Messrs Hebson, Chapel Farm, Carlisle and to £1850 for another pair from Messrs Routledge, Old Silloth, Wigton.  British Blues to £1840 from Messrs Beattie, Woodfield, Annan and Herefords to £1730 from Messrs Black, East Kildarroch, Newton Stewart.

Heifers sold to £1900 on two occasions, firstly for a British Blue cross from Messrs Beattie, Woodfield, Annan and secondly by Messrs Lawson, Roe Farm, Carlisle.  Charolais to £1790 for a pen of three from Messrs Hebson, Chapel Farm and to the same price for a pair from Messrs Holiday, Newbampton, Wigton.  Aberdeen Angus crosses to £1700 from Messrs Halliday, Broathill, Lockerbie.

Best Friesians steers sold to £1530 from Messrs Armstrong, Milfield Demense Farm, Wooler and a Jersey steer to £1380 from The University of Newcastle, Nafferton, Newcastle.
