Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen mart held their annual show and sale of beef breeding cattle when an entry of 346 head were on offer.
Topping the sale at £4600 was a Limousin cow with a Limousin steer calf at foot from Messrs Hodgkinson, Hartley Grange, Buxton and was purchased by Messrs White, Rigg Farm, Middleton in Teesdale.
The pre sale judging was carried out by Holly Teward and who awarded the late Dawn Robinson Memorial Trophy for the first placed outfit a second calved Limousin cow with Limousin calf at foot also from Messrs Hodgkinson which went on to sell to Messrs Hayton, Asby Grange.
Messrs Robinson, Waitby Farm, Kirkby Stephen sold a Limousin heifer with a Limousin heifer calf at foot to make £3850 selling to Messrs Dobson, White Kirkley Farm, Bishop Auckland.
Messrs Wilson, Arngill House, Middleton in Teesdale sold British Blue heifer with a steer calf at foot to £3800. This home sold two more heifers with calves at foot to £3700 all three purchased by Messrs Dargue, Bank Top, Forest in Teesdale
Also reaching £3700 was a Limousin heifer with steer calf at foot from Messrs Edmondson, Hawkswell Farm, Ulverston selling to Messrs Ayre, Eggleston.
Topping the incalf section at £3950 was a Limousin cross heifer incalf to the Blonde bull from Messrs Thompson, Newfield Farm, Sedbergh and was purchased by Messrs Brass, Soulby.
This home also sold another incalf Limousin heifer to make £3900 selling to Messrs Hall, Hawick.
The annual consignment of 28 incalf heifers from Messrs Bradley, Penny Grange, Settle topped at £3700 twice firstly for a Limousin selling to Messrs Warren, Bradford and a British Blue selling to Messrs Brass, Soulby. With others selling to £3600 for a British Blue and a further five selling to £3500.
The whole consignment of 28 fantastic in calf Limousin and British Blue cross heifers from Penny Grange sold to average a phenomenal £3332.00 which was up £196.58 on the year.
Messrs Allan, Beck House Farm, Killington sold incalf British Blue heifer to make £3400.
A fantastic trade was witnessed for all classes of beef breeding cattle with a packed ringside of buyers being attracted by the quality and quantity of breeding cattle on offer at the largest sale in the country here at Kirkby Stephen.
Heifers and Calves sold to average £2,975.34 (+ £242.40 on the year).
Cows and Calves sold to average £2,380.63 (+ £107.10 on the year).
In-Calf heifers sold to average £2,809.76 (+ £320.29 on the year).
In-Calf Cows sold to average £1,970.91 (+ £500.91 on the year)
