Lockerbie Store Cattle Sale

On Tuesday 23^rd March Harrison & Hetherington held their fortnightly sale of store cattle at Lockerbie Auction Mart.

‘Whirlwind blows on’

Another day, another jaw dropping trade for store cattle at Lockerbie. 10 month old Charolais sold up to 308ppk for bullocks and 301ppk for heifers from Messrs MacGregor, Relief Farm. Limousins sold to 301ppk for a bullock from Messrs Porteous, Penlaw. Limousin heifers sold to 285ppk from Messrs Wilson, The Reddings. The average for the entire sale shows a staggering figure just shy of 250ppk.

Heifers topped at £1355 for a Limousin from Messrs Richardson, Purdomstone with others up to £1210 from Messrs Wilson, Belzies. Charolais heifers were up to £1120 from Messrs Goldie, Greenfields and British Blues to £1100 from Messrs Taylor, Dryfesdale Gate. Bullocks topped at £1350 for Aberdeen Angus from Darlawhill while Limousin bullocks sold to £1310 again from Messrs Richardson, Purdomstone. More cattle required to meet ever increasing demand at Lockerbie with buyers coming from far and wide. Please advise entries for our next sale in a week’s time (30^th March) to the auctioneers.
