Harrison & Hetherington had an entry of 958 cattle at their weekly sale comprising of a catalogued entry of 426 Store Cattle, 200 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings, and 332 Calves.

STORE CATTLE – At the weekly sale 426 store cattle were forward.  A fine day for land work saw less customers present, this did little to trade with some unbelievable returns being achieved.  Geoff Batey, High Knells Farm, Scaleby head the charge selling bullocks to £1600 with others at £1560 to level at £1482.50 for his run.  Dairy bred stores sold to £1570 for a pair of British Blues from Messrs T & WF Graham, Carleton Hill, Carlisle with the consignment of bullocks and heifers averaging £1408.  Native bullocks to £1410 for Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Slack, Newby Farm, Carlisle.  Dairy bullocks to £1290 from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth and £1280 for a pair from Messrs Rudd, Grassings, Wigton.  Heifers peaked at £1480 for a very smart Limousin  heifer from Messrs BW & LM Stagg, Longrow, Canonbie.

WEANED CATTLE: A great show of 200 weanlings were on offer to a very keen ring side of buyers which ensured the dearest trade to date.    Messrs Swift, Dry Howe sold a 13 month old Limousin bull for £1240.  Messrs Hall, Nether Harsley Farm sold a 12 month old Limousin bull for £1230.  Another Limousin bull from Messrs Roe, Croft House achieved £1160.  Bullocks sold to a top of £1180 from a 11 month old Limousin from Messrs Metcalfe, High Old Shields Farm. Aberdeen Angus to £1100 from Messrs Sutcliffe, Sandysike.  In the heifer section Messrs Harrison, Dundraw Farm sold a Fleckvieh for £1060 and Messrs Graham, Wallhead sold a 12 month old British Blue heifer for £1030.
