Store Sheep 181124

On Monday 18^th November Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of store lambs.  A stronger show of 1072 were forward to average £93.11 which would be less on the week but was supported by 50% being hill bred sorts.  Topping the Sale went to a pair of Beltex lambs from Mike and Marie Faulder, Ewan Close selling to £148.  The same home sold pens of 6 to £144 and £140.  Texel lambs sold to £143 also from Messrs Faulder.  Suffolk lambs topped at £120 for a pen of 43 from Messrs Hyslop, Barrhill with Mule lambs topping at £112 for a pen from Messrs Walton, Farnbury.  Hill sheep were the trade of the day as Blackies and Swaledale sheep were in great demand.  A total breed average for Blackies was £75.04 topping at £90 for a pen of 33 from Whitcastle Farms but the highlight went to the same home seeing 89 sell to £84.  Swaledale sheep were very sought after with Messrs Johnstone, Coanwood selling 11 to £55 while 189 went on to average £47.53.  More needed to satisfy demand.
