Harrison & Hetherington sold 293 young calves at their weekly sale. Numbers were short of requirements as a strong ringside of buyers out in force sent the trade through the roof with all classes sharper on the week. Topping the sale was an outstanding 1month old British Blue bull from KJ & CS Wilson Ltd, Wood Farm, Thursby. Heifers topped at £550 for a Charolais Cross from DT & G Young, Crummock Bank, Wigton. The same home sold Belted Galloway cross bull calves to £540 and heifers to £520. Messrs Reed, Moss Side House, Wigton sold a British Blue bulls to £560 and £530. JH Errington, Lowther Low Moor sold a shapely 2month British Blue bull to £560. Thackwood Farms, Monkcastle sold British Blue bulls to £545 other sale highlights was a British Blue bull from M & JA Johnstone, Petteril Side, Southwaite selling for £515. Limousin Bulls topped at £515 from G & SE Fox, Windy Hill, Hethersgill who also topped the British Blue Heifer section selling a 3 month old to £510. WI Foster, Coombe Crag, Brampton sold a 2 month Limousin Bull to £505. Young British Blue bulls sold to £495 from Boggle Hall, Plumpton, £480 from Tempest Tower, Little Orton and £470 from JJ Henderson & Son, Park House, Welton. Aberdeen Angus bulls sold to £435 for a pen of three from Messrs Fisher, The Close, Silloth. 1month old Limousin Bulls to £410 PJN & SM Morris, Greengatehouse, Ecclefechan. Simmental bulls sold to £400 for a 1month old from J Forrest & Son, Meinfoot, Ecclefechan. Bowe Dairy Farming, Chalk Lodge, Dalston sold a thick pair of 1month old Blue bulls to £390. R & S McKie, Stoneybrook sold a pen of three and a pair of 1 month Limousin Bulls for £360. 1 month old Angus Bulls sold to £350 from TW Martin, Tempest Tower. Black & White calves were considerably sharper on the week topping at £250 for a Holstein Friesian bull from A & J McCamley, Knockshiffnock, Ochiltree. 2 month old British Blue heifers sold to £465 twice from Messrs Peile Ltd, Moorthwaite, Wigton. 3 month Angus Heifers sold to £395 from Moss Side House. 1 month blue heifers sold to £390 from Chalk Lodge.
