Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their Christmas Sale of 70 Store Cattle
which was said to be the all time dearest ever seen anywhere.
70 cattle averaged £1720.90. Limousin cross heifers forward averaged a massive £1788.97.
Topping the sale at £2000 on two separate occasions were two Limousin cross heifers from Messrs Pickles, Far Gearstones, Chapel Le Dale. This home also sold Limousin cross heifers to £1985 and one to £1935. The wonderful consignment of six Limousin cross heifers from Far Gearstones sold to average an unbelievable £1981.
Steers sold to £1955 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Hodgson, Farm, Shap with this home also selling British Blue cross Steers to £1935.
Bank House Farms, Carnforth sold Limousin cross heifers to £1900 twice, £1885 x 7, £1855 x 3, £1845 x 3 and £1800 x 3. This fantastic consignment of 30 Limousin cross heifers sold to average a whopping £1761.25.
Holstein Friesian Steers sold to £1400 for a pen of three from Messrs Longrigg, Breaks Hall, Heights, with this home also selling another pair to £1375 and three to £1365 with the run of 10 Holstein/Friesian Steers averaging £1361.
