Borderway Store Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 4^th December Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of store cattle.  Far less size and quality forward but despite this the average of £1510.27 is unbelievable as every vendor leaves Borderway grinning like a Cheshire cat!  Topping the days trade was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Grice, Newtown Farm, Carlisle achieving £2080 and £1980.  Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna sold Montbelairdes to £1980 as well and Beef Shorthorns to £1940 from this same good home.  Young Charolais crosses from Messrs Fisher, Lairdlaugh, Castle Douglas sold to £1890 and £1810.  British Blues to £1880 from Messrs Middleton, Stone House, Wigton.  Aberdeen Angus sold to the same price from Messrs Deane, Rigg Head.  Best of these heifers sold to £1980 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Potts, Chapel House, Brampton and £1900 for one from Messrs Gott, Prospect House, Cockermouth.  Messrs Baxter, Eden Banks Carlisle sold their best to £1960 for a British Blue cross.  Aberdeen Angus sold to £1790 from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth and Charolais to £1730 for a pair from Messrs Beattie, Guardsmill, Gretna.
