Borderway Weaned Cattle Sale

On Wednesday 4^th December the weekly sale of weaned bulls and stirks in Borderway took place.  A show of 247 were forward to a strong trade for all classes once again.  A smaller show of 48 bulls were on offer topping at £1710 for a Limousin bull from R & J Byers, Whitehills. The same home sold a Speckled Park bull to £1400.  Charolais bulls topped at £1200 from Messrs Anderson, Rowanburnfoot.  Steers topped at £1420 from J G Johnson, East Foreshields and Messrs Martin, Hesleywell.  Messrs Johnson sold a great run of 11, eight/nine month steers and heifers to average £1200 while  Messrs Martin, Hesleywell also sold 11, seven/eight month old steers and heifers to average £1215.  Heifers topped at £1640 for an Angus from JF & JK Hayward, Hexham.  Limousins  topped at £1510 from Messrs Martin, Hesleywell.  Blues topped at £1260 from Messrs Telfer, High House and Messrs Rome, Fauldie.  A total sale average of £938 was achieved with more cattle needed to satisfy demand.
