SALE OF WEANED CATTLE

On Wednesday 11^th December, Harrison and Hetherington held their penultimate weaned bull and stirk sale at Borderway Mart.

A total of 193 went under the hammer to another trade to lift the spirits in this festive season. A total of 45 bulls sold to a top of £1960from Messrs Goldsbrough, Moffat for a fantastic Simmental bull. Limousin bulls sold to £1710 from Alistair Vance, Bridgehouse. British Blues sold to £1090 from Messrs Gillespie, Wigton.

An overall steer average of £1048 was achieved and peaked at £1760 for a British Blue steer from JR Armstrong, Dykesfield Farm, whose run of 5 averaged £1350. Limousin steers sold to £1540 for a pair from JS & JA Bird, High Wreay whose 4 averaged £1490. Charolais topped at £1200 for a pair from Brian Malters, Moffat.

Heifers topped at £1300 from Messrs Preston, Pallet Hill, while Aberdeen Angus heifers sold to £1020 from TA Hall, Nether Harsley Farm, Hexham.
