Borderway Store Cattle & Weanling Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

Harrison & Hetherington had an entry of 1315 cattle at their weekly sale comprising of a catalogued entry of 585 Store Cattle, 232 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings, 287 Calves, and 211 dairy cattle in the Monthly Borderway Dairy day.  

STORE CATTLE – The weekly sale of store cattle drew a great entry of 585 head.  Week on week buyers are engaging new gears to secure cattle with all classes amazingly dearer again. 80 cattle sold from £1300- £1630 with 35 of these seeing north of £1400.  A quintet of cattle achieved £1600 plus with Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth seeing the top price of £1630 achieved twice for a Limousin x and a Charolais bullock with the run averaging £1565.  Messrs Harper, West House, Dearham sold Aberdeen Angus bullocks to £1620 with Messrs Robinson, Pelutho Park, Wigton having Limousins at £1600.  Messrs Robinson, West Cocklaw, Hexham sold the leading heifer again a Limousin at £1600.

WEANED CATTLE: In the weaned cattle section saw an outstanding trade from start to finish. Bullocks and heifers met a fierce trade with grazing types being in high demand.  Heifers were keenly bid for topping at £1360 for a Limousin from Messrs Scott, Bleabank, £1200 from Messrs Haining, High Drum for another tremendous Limousin.   British Blues sold to the same price of £1200 from Messrs Pinguey, High House.  In the steer section £1180 for Herefords was achieved by Messrs Kirkwood, Mouswald Grange and £1150 for a British Blue steer from Messrs Sutcliffe, Sandysykes.    A large show of bulls was topped at £1190 for a tremendous Charolais from Messrs Robinson, New Hall.  A powerful Limousin from Messrs Pattinson, Bonshawside topped its breed at £1180.
With weaned cattle in high demand for all classes many more are required on a weekly basis.
