THIRD CALVER TOPS AT £2300

The April Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale topped at £2300 for a third lactation cow with the average remaining similar on the month; Holstein heifers averaged £1754.  In total 236 animals changed hands with the overall top price going to a pedigree Fleckvieh bull selling for £4,400. 

Wreaywood Holsteins sold 21 cows and heifers to average £1936 and topped the trade with a third lactation cow selling for £2300.  She was sired by AltaPainter and was giving 62kgs.  Another super third lactation cow from this home sold for £2250, she was sired by a home bred sire and was giving close to 50kgs.

Wreaywood Holsteins topped the heifer trade as well selling for £2250 for a DG Brody daughter giving 37kg.  She was bred from a VG86 dam who gave over 11000kgs as a four year old.

Sixteen animals sold for £2000 or more including Chishillways Roxstar Roma consigned by Paul Harrison from Breckney Hill.  She was giving 36kgs and sold for £2100

Tom Stewart from Sandyknowe Farm sold 26 Holstein Friesian and Jersey Cross bred heifers and topped the trade for cross bred heifers with a black heifer giving 30kgs.  Cross bred heifers averaged £1723. 

A smaller number of Ayrshire cattle were on offer and topped at £1880 for Swaites Dew from the Adamson family. 

An outstanding group of in calf heifers were on offer from several consignors.  The Darrahill herd form Aberdeenshire sold 21 and topped the in-calf heifers at £1750 for a Pepper daughter with the overall average coming to £1565.

SQ Fleckvieh Genetics had 10 Pedigree Fleckvieh bulls on offer and topped the overall trade at £4400 to average £3800.  SQ Mampa was top price, he was sired by GS What Else, he had an impressive genomic proof with a TMI 133 and was positive in milk, butterfat and protien
