SALE OF STORE CATTLE

TUESDAY 14^th JANUARY 2025

On Tuesday 14^th January Harrison and Hetherington conducted its opening sale of store cattle in Middleton in Teasdale Market.

A catalogued entry of 87 stores were forward and were met with an outstanding trade from Start to finish with an overall average of £1495.44 being achieved. A superb run of cattle was witnessed with steer averaging £1574 (+£390) and heifers to average £1374.62 (+£260), with most cattle forward aged 8-10 month old. A great credit goes to Vendors for putting on a fantastic show

Before the sale a pre show took pace with Judge Mr William Swinbank taking charge of the proceedings who awarded the championship to DJ Mallon, Pallet Crag for his first prize Limousin steer which later sold for a top price of the day to £1980. The same home took the Reserve Championship for the second prize, selling to £1820.

Heifers topped at £1700 on occasions, from MW & E Dent, Wythes Hill and JA Robinson, New House.
