On Monday 26th April Harrison & Hetherington held their weekly sale of breeding sheep.
BREEDING SHEEP: A larger entry of ewes and lambs were forward at Borderway with lack of grass starting to have an effect on the middle run of quality. Topping the trade today was a pen of 6 Beltex x Shearlings with lambs selling to a top of £135 per life from Messrs Bainbridge, Laneside, Barnard Castle with the twins from the same farm selling for £108 per head.
The first consignment of mule hoggs and lambs were forward by Messrs R Tweddle, Kirkandrews Moat, Longtown selling for £96 per head. Trade in very buoyant despite grass shortage but will bounce back with a drop of rain.
